TITA (MARCELO) DE LA CRUZ
tita marcelo Mercedes Tita Marcelo De La Cruz, 83, passed away on August 30, 2022. Tita was born in Manila, Philippines. She grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY, and graduated from Arlington High School. She spent most of her life in King of Prussia, PA, before moving to Tampa, FL, in 2014. Tita is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Apolinar de la Cruz, MD; and her sister, Hilda Marcelo Regan. She is survived by her brother, Edmund (Flordeliza) Marcelo, of Cape Coral, FL; brother-in-law, Howard Regan, of Miami, FL; children; Aurora (Steve) Burg, of Baltimore, MD, Amanda (Bill) Lovely, of Mashpee, MA, and Alex de la Cruz, of West Chester, PA. She was a beloved grandmother to Ryan (Ellen) Lovely, Andrew (Rachael) Lovely, Rachel Lovely, Rue Hartsell, and Matthew de la Cruz. She will be missed by her great-grandchildren, Waylan, Oliver, and Arlo Lovely.

Tita was a big believer in education and encouraged many to continue on with higher education. She received multiple degrees, culminating in a Doctorate in Education from Temple University. Even at age 83, she continued her quest for knowledge by taking courses in Tampa.

Tita worked as a Nurse and Nursing Professor at Bryn Mawr Hospital, Montgomery Hospital, Montgomery County Community College, Gwynedd Mercy College, and Thomas Jefferson University combining her love of nursing with her love of education. In King of Prussia, she was a member of Mother Divine Providence Church, was an avid soccer and baseball mom, a senior Girl Scout Leader, President of the PA Nursing Association, and member of the Montgomery County Medical Alliance. She enjoyed lunching with her sorority and attending local theater. In Tampa, Tita was an active member in the Davis Islands Garden Club, Adalia Bayfront Condominiums Garden Club and Social Committee. Now, Tita is on to her next great adventure!
