JAY BOYAR Jay, husband, for 55 years, of Gail Tucker Boyar, father of Seth Boyar (Edie), grandfather of Miles and Grant Boyar, died June 2, 2025 from congestive heart failure at Arbor Ridge rehabilitation center, Riderwood Village, Silver Spring, MD. Jay was the consummate storyteller who entertained family and friends alike. He was born and grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY, and graduated from Marist College in Poughkeepsie. Jay received an Ed.S in Student Affairs from George Washington University. He worked in the Student Activities office of George Washington University, and was Dean of Student College Life Services at Prince George’s Community College where he also taught courses in public communication. During retirement, Jay continued to teach at Prince George’s Community College and then at Frederick Community College. During his life, he was active in the Jewish community serving as president at Beth Torah in Adelphi, MD, and in retirement, as an active member of Temple Isaiah in Howard County. He was a huge part of his grandsons’ multitude of endeavors in education, sports, and artistic pursuits including driving them to piano lessons, cheering the boys on in various sports, and enriching their lives with his love of Jewish traditions.
