VINCENT HYNES Vincent E. Hynes, 85, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully at his home on February 23, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Poughkeepsie on January 20, 1939, he was the son of Vincent J. and Constance (Crutchfield) Hynes. Vincent was proud to have attended the one room schoolhouse on Clove Road. He was a 1957 graduate of Arlington High School where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. Vincent began his career as a farmer working at Franklin Roosevelt, Jr.’s farm in Beekman. He then spent more than 40 years as the co-owner and operator of Clove Excavators. Vincent attended St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction and St. John’s Church in Pawling. He was also involved with the Dutchess County 4-H Beef Club. Vincent was a life member and held many offices including commissioner with the Beekman Fire Department. He enjoyed snowmobiling and rebuilding cars and tractors, and was an avid NASCAR fan, attending the Daytona 500 every year for decades. On November 30, 1958 at St. Denis Church, Vincent married the love of his life, Shirley Brownell, who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Suzann Peterson and husband Bruce, Wendy Travis and husband Howard, and Darrell Hynes and companion Denise Kearsing; his grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Melissa Lombardi, Stefanie Lombardi, Vincent John and Samantha Hynes, and Raymond Darrell and Kathleen Hynes; his great-grandchildren, Madison, Logan, Lily, Peyton, Eli, Otto and Cole; his siblings and their spouses, Carol and Jim Robin, Bruce and Shelly Copland, and Jeanette Sasser; his sisters-in-law, Sandra Prosser, Beverly Baright and Katherine Brownell; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Briggs and his stepmother, Cora Tobin Hynes. |
