CONNECTIONS

Do we more than remember our past?
Bits and pieces in time…
Moments once so real.

Will these “once upon a time” stories
Be lost forever, forgotten, or put aside?

How can they be,
For what was once our long ago realities
Are entwined with who we are,
Have shaped our thoughts,
Given directions to our dreams.

So now…
We make contact,
Read each other's words,
Talk of then and now,
Look into faces so familiar,
Find comfort in our ties,
Recognizing the once shared histories.

And as we find yet again
The connections that remain,
Bringing together what was, is now, and what will be…
So time continues to unroll for us the paths we travel,
But connected,
And never quite alone.
