ROLAND T. WITHERWAX
Roland Witherwax Roland T. Witherwax, 62, a City of Poughkeepsie Police officer for 20 years, died at home on Monday, Dec. 17, 2001. Mr. Witherwax retired as Detective Lieutenant in April of 1983.

Mr. Witherwax was born in Poughkeepsie and attended local schools, graduating from Arlington High School in 1957. He moved to Florida in 1983. Mr. Witherwax served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1959. He was a member of the Police Athletic League, past president of the P.B.A. and a volunteer at Anthony Elementary School.

On Oct. 18, 1958 he married Dorothy Van Leuven. Mrs. Witherwax survives at home. He is also survived by two sons, Wayne R. Witherwax and wife, Jessica Vinall of Poughkeepsie and Roland T. Witherwax, Jr. and wife, Mary of Kissmimee, Fla.; a sister, Beverly Carpenter of De Funiak Springs, Fla.; a brother, Donald Witherwax of Oklawaha, Fla. and two grandchildren, Emma and Kathryn Witherwax. He was predeceased by a sister, Arlene Hackbarth and a brother Howard Witherwax.
