DANIEL BATTISTA
Daniel Battista On Feb. 22, 2005 unexpectedly and surrounded by family, we lost our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend.

He was the son of Daniel and Ethel (Koppel) Battista, born on August 13, 1938 in Queens, N.Y. His parents survive in Poughkeepsie.

Dan graduated from Arlington High School in 1957. He then attended SUNY New Paltz, where he received his B.A. He went on to further his education at the University of California at Davis and obtained his masters degree. He began teaching Psychology and Philosophy at Mohawk Valley College at Utica.

He later returned to the area to work security at the Culinary Institute of America, until his retirement in July 2004. He was just a wonderful, caring and loving guy, who will live in our hearts forever.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Poughkeepsie. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Rochelle Cannizzaro of Hopewell Junction; a sister, Patricia Battista of Hyde Park; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Joseph and Dominica Battista and Ferdnand and Jane Koppel, a brother, Gary Battista, a niece, Colette Cannizzaro, a nephew, John Greco.

Special thanks to the staff at St. Francis Hospital and especially Dr. Martuza. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Poughkeepsie. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
